About the CEFR Test

How it works:

  1. Register with your personal information (Name, Email, Native language)
  2. Start with the A1 level test
  3. Answer all questions to the best of your ability
  4. Receive detailed feedback on your performance
  5. If you score 70% or higher on each level, you'll unlock the next level (A1 → A2 → B1 → B2 → C1 → C2)
  6. Complete all available levels to assess your full Italian language proficiency

CEFR Levels for Italian Language:

A1 - Beginner

Basic knowledge of Italian. You can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and basic Italian phrases. You can form simple sentences using present tense and basic grammar structures.

A2 - Elementary

You can understand sentences and frequently used expressions in Italian related to areas of immediate relevance. You can communicate in simple tasks requiring direct exchange of information and describe aspects of your background.

B1 - Intermediate

You can understand the main points of clear standard Italian on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. You can deal with most situations while traveling in Italy and can produce simple connected text on topics of personal interest.

B2 - Upper Intermediate

You can understand the main ideas of complex Italian text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in your field of specialization. You can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible.

C1 - Advanced

You can understand a wide range of demanding, longer Italian texts, and recognize implicit meaning. You can express yourself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. You can use Italian flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.

C2 - Proficiency

You can understand with ease virtually everything heard or read in Italian. You can summarize information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation. You can express yourself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in more complex situations.
